Crime in the 1930ś Bonnie Parker once said, ¨I'll never leave your side my dear Clyde i'll ride ´till I die” In other words, this quote means that Bonnie and Clyde were among the many other criminals who cause great distress in the 1930ś. During this decade the general public experienced hardship because of them. Therefore, many people had troubles with gangs, crimes, and criminals in the 1930ś. First off gangs in the 1930ś overpowered many people. Most of the gangs were famous for bootlegging but also managed gambling, prostitution, and abortions (LedgensofAmerica.com). Most gangs would commit very serious crimes, but not get much trouble. They were also less likely to get caught. Gangs would go against other ganga’s and have surprise attacks on them. Al Capone was one of the biggest gang members out there. He was caught and sent to Alcatraz (LedgensofAmerica.com). Al capone was danger to all of the people. He would commit very serious crimes. In this time period they would do anything for money. Most people ended up stealing things like food because they could not pay for it themselves. Lastly, the murder rate was 9.7% one of the highest ever in America. The gangs would kidnap people and end up killing them (prezi.com). There were only two reasons for this and they were because the Great Depression made some people desperate enough to do anything for money, and prohibition. This allowed crime to expand on their operation to illegal bootlegging. The gangs in the 1930’s had serious effects on people because of the cruel things that they did. Next, the criminals in the 1930’s were very dangerous people. A man named Al Capone was known for being one of the biggest gangsters in America of the 1930’s. In 1931 he was arrested for income tax-evasion. He had served six and a half years in Alcatraz Federal Prison. Al Capone dropped out of school in sixth grade and joined a street gang. His crimes costed him about $100 million a year. In 1939 Al Capone was released to a mental hospital in Baltimore. He remained there for three years. His health was rapidly declining. Al Capone lived out his last days with his wife in Miami then later died on January 25, 1947 (History. com). Al Capone committed various amounts of crimes, He will always be known as a ruthless gangster. Bonnie and Clyde were also two of many dangerous gangsters in America. They were American criminals who traveled the U.S with their gang. The gang included Clyde’s older brother, Buck and his wife, Blanche. All of them were known for their dozen bank robberies, numerous killings, and kidnappings. Bonnie and Clyde were shot to death in an ambush. Bonnie and Clyde had originally met in Texas in January. Bonnie was 19 and married to an imprisoned murderer. Clyde was 21 and unmarried. The two of them fell madly in love and committed 13 murders and several robberies and burglaries (fbi.gov). Bonnie and Clyde were both very bad people. They committed very bad crimes in their times and got very good at it and continued to do it until they were killed. Lastly, a man named Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd, was known for his constant run ins with police and his constant bank robberies. He was arrested for a payroll robbery in the mid 1920’s. He went on to rob numerous banks after his release (biography.com). Pretty Boy was another one of America’s criminals. All of the American criminals were very bad people and have done very bad things. Next, the crime in the 1930’s made people go insane, There was many crimes in the 1930’s, some of the crimes were very serious and some were not so serious. One of the most serious crimes is lynching, Lynching was a way of killing people people. One of the most frequent places this took place was in the Southern US, mostly to african americans. 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites were lynched between 1882 and 1968 (perzi.com). Lynching was an awful thing to do to someone back then. They lynched more african americans than whites because of their color since they were very racist back then. Lots of other crimes included murder, robbery, and kidnapping. People were desperate enough to do anything for money in this time period. People would steal food because they are to poor to pay for it (LedgensofAmerica.com). Lastly, the crimes in 1930’s changed a lot. Many people changed because of what they did. The murder rate in the 1930’s was 9.7%, one of the highest murder rates ever in America (LedgensofAmerica.com). Most people were influenced to do these things by other criminals who didn't want to get caught. This was a rough time period for many people. In conclusion, throughout the 1930’s more people were resorting to crime. Many people were joining gangs, becoming criminals, and making very harsh crimes. Many people in the 1930’s were desperate enough to do anything for money. Nothing in the whole world can compare to how bad they treated these people in the 1930’s. Criminals in the 1930’s could not be stopped for the horrific crimes that they committed.
